How to use the Demo Parent/Child for testing in Playground

This article outlines how to become familiar with using Playground as an Educator by using the demo account process. If you want to find out more tips and tricks for using Playground, please refer to this article and also see here.

 

How to create a Demo account

A Demo Child and Demo Parent profile is automatically created in Office when your service is setup on the platform.

Office users can create another demo child and parent profile in Office for the testing process by using the steps in this guide.

Administrators will only need to enter in the mandatory details to create these profiles, these are outlined below:

Mandatory for a child profile – First Name, Last Name, Enrolment Start Date, Enrol End Date, Room.

Mandatory for a parent profile – First Name, Last Name.

While an email address is not mandatory for a Parents Profile, if you would like to view the Parents Experience first hand, please include an email address for the Demo Parent.

How to use the Demo Child for testing learning in Playground Web

  1. Log into Playground Web by navigating to: myxplor.com
  2. Entering your Educator email address and password
  3. Create a Document using the steps in this guide, ensure to tag the Demo Child and click on Publish.
  4. Create an Observation using the steps in this guide, ensure to tag the Demo Child and click on Publish.
  5. Create a Canvas using the steps in this guide, ensure to tag the Demo Child and click on Publish.
  6. Create a Table using the steps in this guide, ensure to tag the Demo Child and click on Publish.

How to use the Demo Child for testing learning in Playground App

  1. Download the Playground App onto your device from the Google Play or the App Store. Please see this guide to assist you with this step.
  2. Log into the Playground App with your Service Login. Please see this guide to assist you with this step.
  3. Log into the Playground App with your Educator login. Please see this guide to assist you with this step.
  4. Sign the Demo Child in through the Attendance tab. See: Playground App: Child Sign In / Out
  5. Under the Health Tab, record a Toileting Event for the Demo Child. See: Playground App: Health - Toileting
  6. Under the Health Tab, record a Sleep Event for the Demo Child. See: Playground App: Health - Sleep
  7. Under the Health Tab, record a Sunscreen Application for the Demo Child. See: Playground App: Health - Sunscreen
  8. Under the Health Tab, record a Medication Administration for the Demo Child. See: Playground App: Health – Medication Event
  9. Under the Health Tab, record an Incident Record for the Demo Child. See: Playground App: Health – Incident Records
  10. Under the Learning Tab, create an Observation using the steps in this guide, ensure to tag the Demo Child and click on Publish.
  11. Navigate back to the Dashboard (click on the Learning Tab and then click on Dashboard at the top left)
  12. On the Dashboard you will see the rooms at your service, the Head Count, Incident Records and Emergency List.
  13. Click on the Head Count tab and use the steps in this guide to record a head count for the Demo Child.
  14. Click on Emergency List and record an Emergency for a Evacuation Drill with the Demo Child, using the steps in this guide.

 

How to use the Demo Parent to view the Documentation/Events for the Demo Child from the Parent Perspective:

  1. Please ensure that you have entered in an email address into the Demo Parents profile in Office. (You can do this by navigating to: Parents> Profiles> Parents/Guardians> Locating the Demo Parent Profile> Clicking on their Name> Entering an email address> Clicking on “Save”)
  2. You will then need to action the Welcome Email sent to the email address entered to set up a password. If you need to resend the Welcome Email, you can do so by following the steps in this guide.
  3. Navigate to the Google Play or the App Store to download the Home App. See:
  4. Log in using your Demo Parents email address and password.
  5. Use the steps here to assist you with viewing Health and Medical Events created for the Demo Child.
  6. Use the steps here to assist you with viewing learning created for the Demo Child.
  7. Use the steps here to assist you with viewing the notifications sent from to the Parent through Home.

Note: Please note that you will not be able to view the financial and CCS components through Home as a Parent while testing.
