Wifi FAQ

What connection is recommended?

Broadband or fibre (i.e. NBN).

Which router is recommended?

We highly recommend an AC1900 Wireless Router.

Netgear R7000 AC1900 Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router
TP-Link Archer C9 AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router
Linksys WRT32X Wireless Gaming Router

Netgear D7000 AC1900 Nighthawk VDSL/ADSL Modem Router
TP-Link Archer D9 AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router

Repeaters are used to boost the router's signal and reception.

How can I test my connection?

On the device you wish to test, go to speedtest.net and click Go.

  • Ping: the delay (latency) or how long it takes data to travel between its source and destination. We recommend a ping of 20ms or less.
  • Speeds: depending on how far the service is to the internet exchange, your speeds may vary. We recommend a minimum download speed of 5Mbps and a minimum upload speed of 1Mbps.

If you would like a better connection, we recommend first upgrading the router and, second, speaking to your ISP (internet service provider, i.e. Telstra or Optus) about the options available in your area.
